10/20/2023 0 Comments Download tyrian purple pigmentIn his Natural History the Roman writer Pliny the Elder describes how the dye extraction process had by then developed. I think that strengthen the supposition that they are both pigment compounds and not mixtures. On pinterest and in Google Images a search on cobalt tyrian purple turns up examples that are very close to the two versions. There's a visual "persuasion" for them to fall into the red or blue versions that match the cobalt tyrian purple and tyrian purple when you search for them. One clue that these colors are chemically distinct is just seeing the versions of objects colored with the red-purple and blue-purple in pictures on the internet. If it were the latter it would tend to muddy up any other pigments mixed with it. I believe this is a chemical compound of cobalt blue and tyrian purple and not a mixture of two pigments. An efficient protocol for laboratory synthesis of dibromoindigo was developed in 2010. Although the first chemical synthesis was reported in 1914, unlike indigo, it has never been synthesized at commercial level. The main chemical constituent of the Tyrian dye was discovered by Paul Friedländer in 1909 to be 6,6'-dibromoindigo, derivative of indigo dye that had previously been synthesized in 1903. I like knowing something about the chemistry of colors used and this one has left me with not much. ![]() There is relatively little information about the technical aspects of it. There are not many suppliers who carry this expensive pigment. I don't like it nearly as well as the cobalt blue variety. ![]() That color is on the opposite side of purple, it has a definite red cast. This color is beautiful! A purple with a strong blue cast, it's based on Tyrian Purple, which is much more well known. CLICK THE "LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS ITEM" LINK JUST BELOW TO READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION FOR THIS ITEM.
